ANN ARBOR — The Concordia baseball team secured its second NCCAA World Series title in May, with a pair of Harbor Springs brothers helping the Cardinals win it all. Harbor Springs’ Kyle and Derek Hebner play both baseball and hockey for the Cardinals.

Kyle Hebner had a big impact for the Cardinals’ tournament run, earning him the Tournament MVP and a spot on the All-Tournament team. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in their final game against Fort Lauderdale, where they won 13-3.

“Since I play hockey, I broke my finger. So the first three weeks I couldn’t really play,” Kyle Hebner said. “It was nice finally turning it on towards the end of the year, contributing to the team and being able to come up in clutch moments and give good hits for our team.”

Both players knew they had a great team entering this season, but to win a national title with them was special.

“Our motto was Revenge Tour at the beginning of the year and what we wanted to do is build off last year,” Derek Hebner said. “But to be a part of something that took it all the way, you know, not many people get to do it.”
