VESTABURG – Vestaburg enters its third season of 8-player football this fall and is keeping a positive outlook as it looks to continue to grow as a program.

Coming off a 2-4 campaign, the Wolverines are dealing with low participation numbers this year.

“We’ve got some pretty good leadership, pretty athletic, but I mean low on numbers but we’ll see how that goes,” coach Dan Ryckman said. “We’re still growing, with the school starting here I think we’ll maybe pick up a couple more. So we’ll see how things go.”

“Coach has been saying we got a lot of potential to put hardware in the school, so I think that will be one of our main goals, making playoffs,” added senior Hayden Palmer.

After two years of playing an independent schedule, Vestaburg has joined the Central Michigan 8-Man Football Conference.

“I think this year we can do more than just lose first round of playoffs, I think we can go deep and make a good run,” senior Cole Dailey said. “We’re gonna be hard to beat.”

Vestaburg opens its season at Baldwin on Friday.
