TRAVERSE CITY – The 105th Michigan Open is set to tee off next week, with multiple local golfers returning to compete in this year’s tournament, including Suttons Bay alum and former Ferris State Bulldog Thomas Hursey.

Hursey just wrapped up his final golf season at Ferris State University and will now face some tough competition next week at Grand Traverse Resort.

He finished tied for 10th last year, with a score of one-under par. And he’s looking forward to playing in the tournament for a fourth time.

“Just being able to go up against the the best players in Michigan, you know, kind of like I said, with the competition, that’s what I love. I hear a lot of guys flying back for these tournaments. There are guys driving a long ways to compete in this tournament. Like you’re going to get the best of the best in Michigan at the Michigan Open, whether you’re a pro, whether you’re an amateur golfer. And that’s what I love,” said Hursey.

The Michigan Open will begin Monday, June 13th.
