With Christmas just around the corner, turkeys at the Father Fred Foundation have been flying off the shelf.

Every year, the organization provides those with food insecurity with a holiday meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas. People in the five county area are given not just a turkey, but all the sides as well.

So far this year, the non-profit has already given out 425 turkeys, which is already more than last year’s holiday season.

While the need has increased, the foundation says it’s the communities support that makes it all possible.

“It’s always such a mix of emotions during this time of the year because we’ve got the most generous community ever. So we’re in a position that we can help so many people. But then, of course, there’s also that feel good just knowing that you’re able to make a difference in somebody’s life and to make somebody’s season just a little bit easier,” Candice Hamel, the executive director at the Father Fred Foundation, says.

The last chance to get a turkey is Dec. 23 at 2 p.m.
