TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Central Trojans used a five-goal first period blitz to cruise to a 6-0 Big North Conference hockey victory over Petoskey on Wednesday night.
Six different Trojans lit the lamp in the contest. Graham Peters scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal just 19 seconds into the game. Hunter Folgmann, Drew Zrimec, Collin Benedict and Koen Burkholder also scored in the first to help the Trojans take a 5-0 lead after 17 minutes of play.
Luke Weaver would cap the scoring with a third period goal. Cam Peters notched a pair of assists for TC Central, while Cole Herzberg, Luke Vander Roest and Burkholder each had one.
The Trojans outshot the Northmen 66-9. Petoskey goalie Nicklas Timm was credited with 60 saves.
Traverse City Central travels to the upper peninsula this weekend to take on Houghton and Hancock, while Petoskey will host a pair of games this weekend.
