Cadillac Area YMCA is putting in extra hours so kids in the community can have a New Year’s celebration on Saturday.

The celebration is free to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. It will feature lots of activities ranging from a parade to an obstacle course in the gym, all designed for kids to experience some good old holiday fun.

“Because the parents get to go out and do things, but the kids don’t. So then the kids can go out and they can feel like they’re part of it. You know, kids that are, you know, in the community that, you know, don’t get get out much and can’t get in and do things so they can come in and do this and it doesn’t cost anything,” Virginia Whitt, the event organizer, said.

The YMCA says that while the celebration is free, donations are greatly appreciated.
